These are the Best Verizon phones in 2022: Samsung, Apple, Google, Motorola & more!

We have seen some excellent smartphone releases in 2021, and 2022 is going to keep that momentum going. If you’re a Verizon customer, you have no shortage of options to choose from in the US.

Whether you need a smartphone on a budget or you want some of the most bleeding-edge hardware available out there, you can take advantage of Verizon’s offers and discounts by choosing from their current catalog of budget and flagship smartphones. This list will include both iOS and Android devices in all kinds of price ranges, and will also include, for the most part, full support for Verizon’s network, including their 5G network.

Navigate this guide:

Best Overall: Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is currently the most premium smartphone in Samsung’s current lineup, and it’s quite a flex of technical prowess. Essentially, the Galaxy S21 Ultra offers the best screen, best cameras and best battery life of any flagship smartphone sold in the US right now.

That 120Hz QHD+ AMOLED screen in particular has to be seen to be believed. At 6.8 inches, it’s huge, which makes consuming content that much more enjoyable. With two zoom lenses, the phone covers both the short and long zoom focal range, and 10x zoom photos look as sharp as other phone’s 1x photos.

You can even use Samsung’s S-Pen stylus with this phone, making it truly a do-it-all device.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is Samsung's new mainstream premium smartphone, with S-Pen support, amazing 108MP cameras and 120Hz display, plenty of processing power, and support for several features such as 100X Space Zoom. You're paying a lot of money for a lot of phone.

Runner-Up: Apple iPhone 13 Pro

iPhone 13 Pro

The iPhone 13 Pro is Apple’s latest premium smartphone, and it improves over the 12 Pro in several ways: the cameras gained larger sensors, some with faster aperture, which improves light intake significantly. The telephoto camera has improved to a 3x optical zoom, and the iPhone’s video capabilities improved even further by gaining the ability to shoot video in portrait mode.

The notch is smaller, and the display now refreshes at 120Hz, so animations are buttery smooth, and iOS 15 is as intuitive as ever. If you already own an iPad or Mac, the iPhone works seamlessly with those devices for a level of connectivity that Android devices still don’t offer.

The iPhone 13 Pro is Apple's best smartphone offering, and it packs the most powerful SoC and one of the best camera systems on the market.

Best Point-and-Shoot Camera: Google Pixel 6

Pixel 6 Pro back

The Google Pixel 6 series is the biggest upgrade Google has given to the Pixel cameras since, well, ever. Finally upgrading its main camera sensor after years, the 50MP, 1/1.31-inch shooter can pull in lots of light while producing natural bokeh. Paired with Google’s own custom SoC the Tensor, the Pixel 6 can essentially turn any scene, no matter lighting condition, into a good-looking shot that you can post to Instagram immediately.

The Pixel 6 Pro is a more complete system, featuring a Periscope zoom lens that’s missing in the standard 6, but for most people, the Pixel 6 is a better deal, and in this category — point and shoot — most people will be using the main camera for that job.

There’s also a 12MP ultra-wide camera here that, while not as wide as most other smartphones’ ultra-wide, still can grab sweeping landscape shots without distortion. But ultimately, the main camera is the bread and butter, and this year, the Pixel 6 can beat just about everyone, at least if we’re speaking for phones that sell in the US.

Best Value: Samsung Galaxy S21 5G

Samsung Galaxy S21 5G

Okay, we know Samsung has announced the Galaxy S21 FE, but that phone isn’t on sale on Verizon yet, so for now, the best value option is still the standard Galaxy S21. The Galaxy S21 is powered by the Snapdragon 888 processor, 120Hz display, and most internal specs while also cutting down on aspects such as the camera to keep the costs down.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 is definitely one of the best Verizon phones currently available.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 5G is Samsung's cheapest 2021 flagship, coming with the internals of the much more expensive models in a way cheaper and comfortable package, including the Snapdragon 888 and the 120Hz display.

Best Compact: Apple iPhone SE

Apple iPhone SE in White

The second-generation iPhone SE from Apple may look a bit dated — those bezels! — but the device has its appeals, as there are some who missed the iconic Apple home button, as well as the iPhone SE’s smaller size. This device is basically the iPhone 11’s internals crammed inside the body of an iPhone 7/8. Even with the iPhone 13 around the corner, the iPhone 11’s A13 Bionic SoC is still very powerful and capable.

It’s also the cheapest one around, starting at a digestible $399 for the 64GB model. It’s not the best phone you can get at Verizon right now, and it doesn’t support 5G, but it is still an iPhone, and that’s enough for some.

The iPhone SE is currently the cheapest iPhone in Apple's lineup, but packing an A13 Bionic SoC, it is definitely no slouch. If you're a fan of the iPhone 8's form factor and small design, then this might be the phone for you.

Best Foldable: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 Phantom Silver back

The newest phone on this list is also the one that will drop the most jaws. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is Samsung’s newest top dog foldable and it improves on the already excellent Z Fold 2 in many areas, including added IPX8 water resistance and S-Pen stylus support. The outside screen also saw its refresh rate bumped up to 120Hz for a smoother UX everywhere.

The Z Fold 3, in case you’re unaware, is essentially a 7.6-inch tablet that can fold in half to become a TV remote-shaped smartphone with a 6.2-inch narrow screen. It’s highly portable and pocketable, making it an ideal device for people who need more screens, whether for work or to play.

Best Mid-Range: Google Pixel 4a

Google Pixel 4a

The Google Pixel 4a continues the successful formula that Google started with the Pixel 3a lineup. This is a really cheap smartphone with very average mid-range specifications, but also packs everything that makes a Pixel smartphone so good and iconic. It packs Google’s fast updates and clean, stock Android software, and also comes with Google’s world-class camera processing, although the dual lenses that come with the higher-end smartphones are dialed back to a single rear camera sensor.

It comes with its downsides though, the main one being that this smartphone doesn’t support 5G connectivity. But still, it’s a pretty solid offering from Google.

    Google Pixel 4a
At $349, you're getting a very capable mid-range Pixel with the same world-class camera on the higher-end models, a Snapdragon 730G processor, 6GB of RAM, and Google's amazing software. It's one of the best, if not the best, budget phones of the year.

Best Battery Life: Motorola Moto G Power 2021

Moto G Power 2021

If you just want a cheap device that can provide you with amazing battery life, then the Motorola Moto G Power 2021 is the phone for you. The specs? Nothing amazing. There’s a Snapdragon 662 SoC, up to 4 GB of RAM, a rear 48MP camera, and up to 64GB of storage. The selling point of the phone though is the battery. The phone packs a 5,000 mAh battery cell which can provide the phone with up to, according to Motorola at least, 2 days of juice on a single charge. The Snapdragon 662 is built in an 11nm process and sips battery, which definitely helps the Moto G Power’s case here.

Don’t expect 5G or any other fancy features, but if what you want is simply a smartphone that can endure a lot of abuse without being connected to a wall every six hours, then the Moto G Power 2021 is the phone for you. It’s one of the best Verizon phones in terms of battery life.

The Moto G Power 2021 is a very capable budget device from Motorola that really shines in the battery department, with a 5,000 mAh cell that can provide an amazing battery life of up to 2 days.

Best Budget Phone: Motorola Moto G Play 2021

Moto G Play 2021

The Motorola Moto G Play 2021 isn’t going to blow your socks off either if you’re expecting the same amount of features that are featured on some of the other smartphones on this list. In fact, “Play” smartphones in Motorola’s lineup are usually among the less powerful options available. But if you want a smartphone that focuses on the essentials and comes with a few extra perks, then you won’t want to miss this one. Unlike the Moto G Power, the Moto G Stylus goes down to a Snapdragon 460 and up to 3GB of RAM. It also comes with a measly 32GB of storage, although that’s expandable, and the camera is nothing to write home about either, with a main 13MP sensor.

It’s one of the best phones to consider if you’re looking for something on Verizon that actually gets the essentials right.

    Motorola Moto G Play 2021
The Moto G Play 2021 is a very competent budget smartphone, featuring a Snapdragon 460 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a 13MP camera. Nothing more, nothing less.

There’s a lot of options here, whether you’re looking for a premium flagship in the Galaxy S21 Ultra, an iOS device in the iPhone 13 Pro, or a more affordable option in the shape of the Galaxy S21 or going all the way down to Motorola’s Moto G lineup. Depending on whatever you want to do with your device, there are some options that are better than others.

For a good mix of price to performance, I would personally go for the Galaxy S21 5G, or the Galaxy S21 Ultra if I were looking for something bigger and more premium.
